Ground Transport
France may be about to witness a long weekend of travel and transport disruption as two more pension reform strikes are planned in the next few days.
National unions have called strike days on Friday 28th April and Monday 1st May, as the bitter dispute with the French government rumbles on. Monday is Labour Day, a public holiday where industrial action is not uncommon, and it looks likely that protests and demonstrations will be widespread.
Many transport and logistics related workers, including air traffic controllers, are believed to be amongst those joining the action this Friday or Monday, or possibly both, as many of the public continue to object to President Macron's pension plans.
Importers, exporters and logistics businesses have learned to live and work around the strike days, which have been commonplace this year. However, there could be some minor delays for logistics movements via France during the next few days. That includes shipments to or from other European countries which are just travelling through.
